DrumStrong, Charlotte NC 5/20/11 - 5/21/11

In association with Earthdrums, Sandrine and I joined Jose Bila to film & photograph this incredible event up in Charlotte, NC. This was part of the ongoing Earthdrums project we became a part of this year. Drumstrong was an experience we will never forget and will try to be part of for as long as we can.

Please read what is all about below and for more information visit their website: http://drumstrong.org

Join celebrity artists and thousands of good people in a unique, multicultural, musical charity event showcasing available resources that support people with cancer and those who love them.

We gather in rhythm to BEAT cancer! Featuring a non-stop Drum Circle, full stage with great entertainment and many important cancer health resource exhibiters.

Held in the pastures of Misty Meadows Farm, encouraging people to focus attention on cancer awareness, education, survivorship support and funding for research.

Here's the Deal :: We (a lot of us) are going to do two things at once ::
We are going to break the planet’s record for the Longest continuous rhythm *Drum Circle* ever held (and possibly the Largest!), drum with people globally (simultaneously) and at the same time, raise awareness and incredible amounts of money for survivorship assistance, education and research for one of the most nefarious diseases known to man.
We will throw ourselves at eradicating cancer, fortify our friends, families and ourselves, glean useful info about the resources available to address cancer and have a blast doing it!

DRUMSTRONG events are held in cities all over the world. Folks all playing together simultaneously; drumming via webcast with the same intentions :: to BEAT cancer.

I love music.
Rhythm touches everybody : we breathe : we blink : we’ve all got a heartbeat ...
DrumsForCures was created as a natural expression of our family's desire to be a vibrant part of beating cancer. Since rhythm is universal we decided that an event centered around the art and fun of hands on drumming would be a great way to bring people together. Our mission is to provide a vehicle for health entities and cancer societies to show communities the resources at hand to assist in directing and easing cancer concerns. Facilitating the ‘introduction’ and advancement of important organizations supporting those dealing with cancer, promoting early detection and working towards cures is our goal, and a cause that is close to my heart. - Founder Scott Swimmer
